Talakkadu trip

We left Mysore for Talakkadu at around 11 AM. Reached the Panchalinga kshetram around 1PM. There are five temples, all of Lord Shiva in the form of Lingam in this area. This wiki entry throws more light on Talakkad. Very serene and scenic place where you'll see the beautifully refreshing rural stuff. Three temples, viz. Vaidyanatheswara, Maraleshwara and Pathaleshwara are in the same premises reachable through a walk on the sand (within a couple of km). In this place you'll also see the Keerthi Narayana temple. After this, we drove for about Five KM to the Arkeshwara temple situtaed in the middle of paddy fields and by the side of a pond. We had our lunch here and after darshan drove down another six KM to the Lord Mallikarjuna temple which is on the banks of the river Kaveri and unlike the other four temples is situated on a hill. There is very nice view of the vegetation and the river from the hill top. We spent a few minutes at Kaveri before returning to Bangalore via Malavahalli and Kanakpura (Talakkad to Bangalore in this route is about 120 km). Tripe meter for the Bangalore-Mysore-Talakkadu-Bangalore read 380 KM.

ఇంటింటా రామాయణం

Recently watched the Sampoorna Valmiki Ramayanam pravachanm in telugu by Brahmasri Chaganti Koteswar Rao garu. Bhakthi TV aired it from 9PM to 10PM on all week days for 109 days on week days. While Lord Rama's observance of truth and dharma are well known and still part of Indian life and folk lore, the orator's articulation was superb and made us glued to the screen. I ensured that I didn't miss any of the episodes. But in case I missed there was http://en.srichaganti.net/ to fall back upon where the good samaritans and associates of Sri Koteswar Rao garu had uploaded the entire discourse in mp3 format. Pl. checkout the website - it is amazing.

Brahmasri Chaganti Koteswar Rao garu has spoken on some of the most interesting epics in Indian mythology and philosophy. Please check out the discourses.

Now our friends at srichaganti.net have also comeup with dvds containing the recording of Sri Ramayanam. In case you are interested, please leave a comment and I'll get a copy of this collector's item to you. Please note that it is only in Telugu.

Thanks for your interest.

దసరా సంబరాలు!

Welcome to Sarad Navrathri Celebrations. Major part of the celebration is the Bommalakoluvu, a colony of dolls that we set up. Thanks to the long weekends around this time, we did a satisfactory job of it. Hope you like what you see.

శ్రీ విరోధి నామ సంవత్సర ఉగాది శుభాకాంక్షలు

A very happy Ugadi to all. The name of the upcoming year, virOdhi is a bit strange. But let's look at it positively! Let there be no virodhas (opposing forces) and avarodhas (obstacles) for the good we intend to do. Let those be limited to the name of the year.

Found a place for the telugu panchangam for this year:

Download Panchangam

Thanks to the people who have made it available to all who do not have access to a printed almanac.

have a great year ahead!

Each picture tells a story!

One place of interest is the Kodanadaramswamy temple at Gollalamamidada. There is a Kodandaramaswamy temple which has two gopurams, one of 160 ft and another of 200 ft. Four walls of the gopurams are exquisitely decorated with episodes from epics. The top of 200 ft gopuram can be reached in ten levels. Each level gives a peek to the story unfolding on the wall there. This is an attempt to catch some of that. My honest opinion - this piece of work deserves more attention than it is getting!

Harithandhra

One morning we started from Rajahmundry and drove in the countryside. Amazing greenery and beauty. Have an eye-pleasing experience!
